Goddess

Goddess

The Sun must be my Mother.
with her, I begin. my
breath comes easier in her warmth & glory
From her, all else is borne
she welcomes every force,
        living or still,
into her loving embrace.

The Sun must be my Mother.
the smile of kissed shine and
glowing compassion relieves me
of my faults,
unconditional in her gifts.

The Sun must be my Mother.
she balances day and night on her
comforting form,
like a babe on her hip
nurtured and taught the
unutterable, vital equality
Of dark and light.
My daughters, (says she)
my light cannot shine without shadow.

My Mother must be the Sun.
around her do my days revolve,
My day begins with her smile
her radiance is unparalleled when
she is witness to the grace she
created in her children.
My mother
is a woman of the Earth to the Earth,
and ever teaches her children
to love the beauty of life
and remember to balance
good and evil.
